Resident Perceptions of INBEP Impacts (March 2017)
A resident survey was administered periodically across divisions between April 2015 and March 2017 to gauge resident perceptions of neighborhood change as a result of INBEP intervention strategies. Below are the key findings from the surveys as of March 2017.
Residents perceptions of neighborhood attractiveness improved after the blight elimination activity(ies) took place.
Residents perceptions of safety (with respect to crime) improved after the blight elimination activity(ies) took place.
Residents perceptions of neighborhood walkability improved after the blight elimination activity(ies) took place.
Residents perceptions of neighborhood decline (Ex: Many vacant/abandoned homes/declining property values) improved after the blight elimination activity(ies) took place.
Residents perceptions of neighborhood neglect (Ex: Shows Visible Signs of Neglect) improved after the blight elimination activity(ies) took place.
Residents stated the removal of blighted/vacant structure(s)
- Improved Neighborhood Stability - 74.8% Very to Extremely
- Improved Perceptions of Safety (with respect to crime) - 72.2% Very to Extremely
- Positively Changed their Personal View of the Neighborhood - 80.6% Very to Extremely
Improvements like this is making it safe and beautiful... It's great to see the Town of Waterloo was able to eliminate 9 structures that were not only uninhabitable, but were also unsafe and posed a health risk to the general public. |
It looks cleaner and more attractive... It's lighter at night and the new construction there is beautiful. Neighborhood is so much more pleasing to the eye. |
